Receiving Injuries

  • An Injury is received any time a character takes damage from a Critical Hit (possibly to exclude Minions).
  • Upon receipt of an Injury, the character will make an Endurance check. The difficulty of the Endurance check is based upon the total number of Injuries the character has.
    • Easy: # Injuries < 1/3 the character’s maximum number of Healing Surges.
    • Normal: # Injuries < 2/3 Healing Surge max
    • Hard: # Injuries > 2/3 Healing Surge max
  • Failing this check results in the loss of a Healing Surge. Healing Surges lost in this manner cannot be regained until an Injury is removed (at a 1:1 rate). If a character has no Healing Surges remaining, they take damage equal to their Healing Surge value.
  • There is no upper limit on the number of Injuries a character may have.

Removing Injuries

  • One week of dedicated rest removes all Injuries.
  • Expending one Medical Kit will remove one day’s worth (2-3?, TBD) of Injuries.

Medical Kit (new item)

  • A Medical Kit is an abstract representation of the types of medical supplies one might use to treat an injury.
  • Medical Kits can be found, purchased, or fashioned through a Skill Challenge. Medical Kits can only be fashioned once per Extended Rest or 24 hour period (whichever comes first).
  • Ten Medical Kits are a part of each Adventurer’s Kit.

Deprivation Tokens

  • Under normal conditions, characters must consume one Survival Day’s worth of food and water to maintain themselves.
  • For each day a character misses consuming one Survival Day, they receive a Deprivation token and must make an Endurance check. The difficulty of the Endurance check depends on the number of Deprivation tokens the character has.
    • Easy: One Deprivation token.
    • Normal: Two Deprivation tokens.
    • Hard: Three or more Deprivation tokens.
  • Failing this check results in the loss of a Healing Surge. Healing Surges lost in this manner cannot be regained until the character consumes a Survival Day (at a 1:1 rate). If a character has no Healing Surges remaining, they take damage equal to their Healing Surge value.
  • There is no upper limit on the number of Deprivation tokens a character may have.

Removing Deprivation Tokens

  • One week of consuming Survival Days removes all Deprivation tokens.
  • Consuming one Survival Day will remove one Deprivation token (once per Extended Rest or 24 hour period, whichever comes first).

Survival Day (new item)

  • A Survival Day is an abstract representation of the supplies needed to stay alive for one day.
  • Survival Days can be found, purchased, or fashioned through a Skill Challenge. Survival Days can only be fashioned once per Extended Rest or 24 hour period (whichever comes first).
  • Any unit of food or similar sustenance referred to as a “days’ worth” converts directly into one Survival Day.
